Kyrgyzstan, The New Medical Education Hub Amid Rising Tensions Between Russia-Ukraine

The ongoing war between Russia & Ukraine and the political disturbance there have forced Indian students to move out and explore new options for medical education abroad. In such a situation, Kyrgyzstan, a safer and more peaceful country has emerged as the new base. This new medical education hub is becoming a top choice for Indian medical students, especially from  states like Delhi, Patna, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and South India

Kyrgyzstan has made strong and concrete reforms in the field of medical education in recent years. Institutions such as the International Higher School of Medicine, located in Bishkek have attracted Indian students. IHSM is accredited globally by international institutions such as WDOMS, FAIMER, and ECFMG and the curriculum has been designed as per the guidelines of the National Medical Commission of India. A senior IHSM official stated that the institute provides not only modern medical education to Indian students but also basic facilities like living, food, and security.

An Indian student shared his experience

A former Indian student, who has recently completed medicine in Kyrgyzstan, states:-

“I first feared going abroad, but during the first week in the college and hostel, i completely felt like I was home. Facilities like Indian mess, advanced training, and hospitals with experienced doctors and faculty made it an experience worth remembering. The biggest advantage was that we got the benefit of the direct entry process by avoiding any middlemen or agents. “

Getting Relief from the agent’s trap!

Fake agents and counselors robbing students in the name of studying abroad have become common nowadays. However many institutions in Kyrgyzstan directly adopt the admission process, eliminating the role of middlemen. This gives students and their parents confidence in transparency and security.

Opinion of education experts

An Indian expert while reviewing education policy for abroad stated:-

“The government should issue a list of countries where education is being given with safety comfort and with the standards of quality.” Kyrgyzstan can become a strong example in this direction.”

Favorable environment created by Indian investment

Indian investment in medical institutions in Kyrgyzstan has not only improved the educational structure but also embedded facilities like Indian culture, language, and catering. This makes the students experience an environment where they feel like home away from home.

A new map for medical education

Every year hundreds of students from many parts of the country, especially Delhi, Patna, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and South India enroll in Kyrgyzstan. This trend has now reached tier-2, and tier-3 cities also.
